Weekly on Wednesday - No. 234

Another week, another desk check-in, thanks to our friend Julia, at the The Stamping Ground.

Kind of clean - with a few experiments I was trying - more about those later. I have fun this week. I am still on track with my "art everyday challenge" of inchies. I let myself do a twiniche once a week.

The larger one is a series of circles made of scrap paper, collage images and a new technique I learned from Creative Jump Start, which involves transparencies (sheet protectors in my case) and paint. It has real possibilities.

The "inchie of the week" is above. It's painted with my new favorite thing - Dragonfly Wing Twinkling H20 (first off I LOVE the name of the paint) - along with a couple of other colors...and of course it begged for a dragonfly on it, so who am I to disappoint?

I'm taking Lifebook again - I wasn't going to until I realized how much I had learned last year. These next couple of pictures are from a creativity exercise we did.....pretty funny.

We were to pick one of our knick-knaks and draw it with the non-dominate hand. I actually kind of like it...I would have been way too intimidated to draw it with my right hand, so it worked. I'll be doing more of this.

And finally I leave you this week with my Wart Hog and Friend creation.

Three colors of washi tape, five pieces each, randomly applied on an index card. What is it? After looking for a while I thought maybe a horse. But as we can see, much more like a wart hog!

Sorry I wasn't able to get to everyone last week - I'm more determined this week.

Enjoy - hope you have some time to be creative this week!

  1. Well, you have an eclectic mix of stuff to show us this week!! My favourite is the Leftie Silver Bell! I love the wobbly, non-neatness of the image...it says more than a perfectly drawn image to me :-) I'm going to try doing that today!!
And the other thing that caught my eye was your beautiful flowery chest of drawers! Did you paint it? I have a soft spot for painted furniture and that is really gorgeous.
Hope you're surviving the winter ok...

  2. The leftie drawing shows great possibilities and what a challenge to draw with your non dominant hand. I struggle enough with my right hand. The warthog & friend looks very endearing. Thank you for your kind comments regarding my paintings.

  3. Ooh I love your pieces! So cute but so inspiring! Creative jump start has been fabulous hasn't it?

Thanks for stopping by my desk already, and for the lovely comments about my son. I'm biased, but I think he's a bit of a stunner. Haha!

    Thanks for sharing

  4. Loving your daily twinchies - the stars and that fabulous teapot especially - and the left-handed bell is so cool (note to self - must try this). And of course it's a warthog... a wonderful warthog!

  6. I love that exercise the teachers give, I had the same many years ago and the teacher stood over me and watched in dissbelief at my ability to be able to do exactly the same with both hands. She then got us to do the drawing of the persons face across the room without lifting the pencil, I had to do it both hands, she was in awe. I am ambidextrous what a giggle ha, go her going.LOL. I do love your dragonfly twinchie, there is something about those H2O's that still get me. Thanks for popping in to say hi, was nice of you to visit and leave a comment.

  10. Drawing with the left hand seems like a good technique, I remember reading about it in a book called Drawing on the right side of the brain. Brilliant book, full of great ways to trick your dominant 'logical'brain side into allowing the other half to do things without interfering in the process. Your projects look like you've had a lot of fun. Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #35 xx

  14. You have a lovely space to create in, those drawers are amazing. Your left hand drawings are great, I'd struggle to even hold the pencil!!

  15. I've been so busy lately that keeping up with my art journal has become a challenge, no matter how simple I keep … but inchies might be the ticket! Thank you for that inspiration!

And the Wart Hog and Friend ~ LoVe it!

  17. I really love your craft room! Your post wasn't half bad either. I am busy with LifeBook again this year and my goal this afternoon is to do week 3 lessons. I am conflicted with doing the exercise and don't know why...my daughter suggested I thought it was wasted time when all I really wanted to do was create something fun. Who knows but I am going to bite the bullet and do the lesson today!! Love that wall hanging on the right and that chest of drawers on the right. What color and inspiration in in your room. Did you paint them? You have a lot of fun things on the desk to snoop through. Thanks for visiting my desk today. Vickie aka Okienurse #111
